AYURVEDA
Ayurveda is the traditional medicine of India and the oldest system of healthcare in the world. It is a system of both preventative and curative medicine that has been practiced for atleast 5,000 years. Ayurveda covers all aspects of healing- physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. It recognizes that the mind, body, and spirit are one unit. To ignore any of these aspects is to miss the whole and therefore ultimate healing can not take place. Ayurveda recognizes that we are not machines and each one of us is unique, so not one way of living is right for everyone. Therefore, Ayurveda gives us a variety of ways and tools to prevent and manage disease. Ayurveda includes all methods of healing from diet, herbs, exercise, routine management, lifestyle regimens to yogic practices and meditation. It teaches us to understand the language of nature and how to evolve not only for ourselves, but to benefit all living creatures. Ayurveda is the foundation for us to live in harmony within ourselves and in the universe.
There are four Upavedas or Secondary Vedas which the upmost important is Ayurveda or Vedic healing/medicine. Ayurveda defines physiology in terms of three forces called doshas. Vata covers the physiology of motion in the body. Pitta covers the physiology of metabolism. Kapha covers the physiology of structure. We all have a special combination of all three of them within us and at the moment we were conceived, we were given our Ayurvedic constitution (Prakriti). Our doshas are always going in and out of balance (Vikruti) due to the changes that happen in our life. Ayurveda gives us the knowledge to understand the importance of utilizing our senses wisely and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
An Ayurvedic lifestyle is the foundation for a successful yoga practice and provides the insight for us to experience true healing. These two Vedic traditions were always practiced in conjunction with one another.
CONSULTATION
You may be feeling a little, or a lot, out of balance and have tried everything under the sun but nothing seems to work. You may feel a little overwhelmed or perhaps even burnt out. Whether you’re struggling with hormonal imbalances, weight issues, digestive troubles, sleep issues, anxiety, depression, stress, skin conditions, preparing/recovering from giving birth, or any other disease in the body and mind, Ayurveda provides the tools for relief and an understanding of why the symptoms are present in the first place.
Ayurveda is not just a change in diet or taking a few medicinal herbs. While this may be part of the process, a majority of our work together is learning how and why to care for your unique energy of your body and mind.
Whether you are wanting to focus on a particular health issue or are simply looking to learn more about Ayurveda on a practical and personal level, Ayurvedic consultations are the way to go. I correct imbalances through diet, herbs, lifestyle, spiritual counseling, yoga, meditation, and self care practices. I make all herbal formulas myself and they will be specifically designed for you and the ailment we are treating. Our work together is entirely customized for you and your lifestyle. There will be time for learning, practice, and discussion in our sessions together.
The initial consultation is around two hours and this is where I get to know you and how you live and what you have been drawn to in the past. I do pulse and tongue diagnosis and other physical examination. We discuss your disease or health issue and what you are wanting to work on. The Report of Findings is around one hour and it’s where we go over your unique energy and the treatment plan of bringing any disease or ailment back into balance. Here I recommend a few things for you to work on, herbal medicines, and Ayurvedic bodywork. Follow up visits are around one hour and this is where we hone in on what we are working on.
I have patients I have been working with from all over Europe and Australia. If you are not able to come to Las Vegas, we can meet for consultations on zoom.
HOW IT WORKS
In Depth Consultation
We start with a 2 hour consultation where we will review your health history and your health issue present. I diagnose through pulse and tongue and learn about your past tendencies. This is where I get to know you and how
you live.
Report of Findings
We meet a week later to go over the energy happening in your body and mind. We discuss your Prakruti (constitution) and your Vikruti (imbalance). I give a few recommendations which include herbal medications, body therapies, and diet/routine changes that will support you and bring you back to health.
Follow up Visits
These are 60 minute consultations where we check your pulse and tongue. These are beneficial to hone in on the disease and/or treatment plan and a way to implement more teachings on Ayurveda. We will have time for discussing and practicing in our sessions and you will have accountability every step of the way to make the changes you want to happen.
